About 29 Bridges Yarn
29 Bridges Studio is a small indie hand dyed yarn and knitwear studio based in Maryland. For Mary, it all started one day when she was five. She faked a stomach ache so that she could hang out with her mom instead of going to school. Her mom taught her to knit with some 1970's gold acrylic yarn and the rest is history. You can find her hand dyed yarns at select LYS or at a trunk show. Her ready to wear designs are carried by select boutiques. You can also find her vending at craft markets talking up yarn and knitting and being inspired by creative people.
Why choose lace weight yarn?
Lace weight yarn is a very fine type of yarn that typically has a weight of 30 to 40 stitches per 4 inches (10 cm) and is often used for delicate, intricate projects like lace shawls, lightweight garments, and doilies. It is usually made from fibers such as wool, alpaca, silk, or cotton, providing a soft, airy feel and excellent drape. Due to its lightweight nature, lace weight yarn can be challenging to work with, often requiring smaller needles and careful tension management, but it allows for beautiful, detailed patterns that can create stunning finished pieces.
